Google Analytics
If you have a website, you most probably have Google Analytics set up in order to gain invaluable visitor data. Google Analytics can tell you many things about traffic, your visitors and their behavior. Simply put, it shows you where visitors to your site come from – be it via a pay-per-click advert, an organic link, digital collateral such as links in PDF documents or via your email marketing campaign. So, how do you set up your email newsletter as a referrer in your Google Analytics account?
If you don’t have a Google Analytics account yet, you will first have to set one up via your Gmail account. Then grab the tracking code that Google Analytics generates for you and add it between the header and body tags of your website pages. Next, the really easy part: enable Google Analytics in your GraphicMail account. (video link) Once you send your next newsletter from your GraphicMail account, tracking comes into place if the link in your newsletter sends readers to a page on your site. Google recognizes the newsletter as the referrer source, and specifies which specific link in this referrer source (i.e. My Newsletter) was clicked.
